New Whittier Assistant Principal and Secretary
Dear Whittier families,
Whittier is excited to announce our new assistant principal, Dr. Vanessa Jobe, and our new school secretary, Ms. Hollie Worthen! Starting August 3rd, we will be in the building regularly, so if you are in the neighborhood, swing by and say “hello!” Otherwise, you will have the opportunity of meeting Dr. Jobe and Ms. Hollie at our Back-to-School open house on August 29th from 5-7 PM.
Dr. Jobe - Assistant Principal
Dr. Jobe lives in the district’s boundaries with her partner and two French bull dogs, Gilly and Frida. She loves the outdoors—particularly skiing and hiking. She enjoys vegan cooking, and she is a total foodie. Her favorite color is blue.
Dr. Jobe has taught 3rd and 4th grade in the general education setting, and she spent three years teaching K-6 mild/moderate and severe special education. Additionally, she has worked in our district as a literacy coach, and most recently as an assistant principal at Escalante Elementary. Her undergrad and master's degrees are in teaching from Westminster College and her educational leadership doctorate is from the University of Utah. Her career emphasis is to promote more family collaboration with school teams. Dr. Jobe looks forward to working with our entire community and is eager for the school year to begin!
Ms. Hollie Worthen - School Secretary
Ms. Hollie is so excited to be joining the Whittier community as our new school secretary. She started working in the school setting 15 years ago when her oldest child started kindergarten. She says elementary is her favorite place to be, “It is so much fun and the energy cannot be matched!” She is married with three children (One son and two daughters—all teenagers), and three pets (one dog and two cats). When she is not at work, Ms. Hollie is almost always with her husband or family. They love to laugh so comedy shows are a must! Their family loves road trips and they often visit their family. They also love going to art exhibits, thrifting, and relaxing on their back deck where they can enjoy the beautiful state they live in. Ms. Hollie’s goal this year is to meet and get to know every single student at Whittier, so please make sure to “hi!” if you see her.
