Whittier Food Pantry Opens on Tuesday! 

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the Whittier PTA food drive! We’re so excited to open the free food pantry to Whittier families this Tuesday, Nov. 25 at the following times: 

• 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. 
• 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (or until food runs out)

To find the pantry, turn right after entering the school. It’s just located in a repurposed closet just past the small conference room. Anyone can stop by the pantry during open hours. We have shopping bags available, too! 

If anyone wants to donate to the pantry, please bring your donations to the front office or contact WhittierElemSLC.PTA@gmail.com for more information. 

¡La despensa de alimentos de Whittier abre sus puertas el martes! 

¡Gracias a todos los que contribuyeron a la colecta de alimentos de PTA de Whittier! Nos emociona mucho abrir la despensa de alimentos gratuita para las familias de Whittier este martes 25 de noviembre en los siguientes horarios: 

• 7:30 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. 
• 2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. (o hasta que se acaben los alimentos) 

Para encontrar la despensa, gire a la derecha después de entrar a la escuela. Está ubicada en un armario adaptado, justo después de la pequeña sala de conferencias. Cualquiera puede pasar por la despensa durante el horario de atención. ¡También tenemos bolsas de compras disponibles! 

Si alguien desea donar a la despensa, por favor, traiga sus donaciones a la oficina principal o comuníquese con WhittierElemSLC.PTA@gmail.com para obtener más información. 

Whittier Culture Night Thursday, December 4, 5:30 - 7:30 

Please join us to celebrate Whittier's amazing cultural diversity! Whittier Culture Night is a chance to enjoy culture displays from families at our school, multicultural crafts and books, and dance, music, and other performances. 

We need help to make this night a success!

Word of the Month: Curiosity 

This month, students are exploring Curiosity—asking questions, trying new things, and learning about themselves and others. Weekly classroom announcements spotlight students who are demonstrating curiosity in action! 

Whittier's Gift Card Giving Tree is LIVE! 

We are shifting from our traditional virtual giving tree to a Gift Card Giving Tree to better meet the needs of our families this season. If you’d like to donate, families can sign up to give a gift card (Target, Walmart, Smith’s, or Amazon) and deliver it to the front office by Friday, December 12. Click this link  to donate! 

We are also partnering with community sponsors to support families this holiday season.

 Counseling Lessons: Emotion Regulation in Action 

This month’s school counseling lessons focus on building emotional regulation tools: 

• K–1: The SPOT curriculum helps students identify and manage big feelings. 
• 2–4: Students are learning about the Zones of Regulation and how to recognize body signals and triggers. 
• 5–6: We’re focusing on the moment between action and reaction—helping students practice self-control and respond with dignity even in challenging moments.
